Collection: Apocalypso Series

The Apocalypso Series is a meditation on the anthropocenic age -- and a dark imagining of what may come after it. At the same time the art utilizes material and techniques that may postpone -- or even cancel -- a dystopian future. With sci-fi overtones, the work upcycles and recontextualizes waste into unusual new forms -- diverting it from the endless trash stream of our era. While the work, some of which is inspired by traditional Japanese art forms, is certainly serious, it does not lack a sense of humor and playfulness. One gets the impression that Sherry knows she is not an oracle and is willing to have a little fun -- questioning her own environmental anxiety while dancing to an imagined "apocalypso" beat. She wonders if maybe our dark future might also have some light moments.
