About

SherrySherry Davis hails from Toledo, Ohio in the American Rust Belt where she grew up surrounded by the husks of abandoned and deteriorating factories. Despite coming from a family of factory workers, Davis was just a generation away from farm life. Her grandmothers and aunts, passed on to her both the farmer ethos of thriftiness and the skills of her homesteading feminine ancestors. All of these influences are reflected in her current work.

Davis received a Bachelor of Fine Art from Kent State University, a Master's degree from Brooklyn College and attended at The Art Students League of New York. She has studied with numerous artists, including Sheila HicksBarbara Eckhardt, Arline FischNance O'BanionJanice Lessman-Moss, and Deborah Winiarski.

Davis’ artwork has been exhibited at many galleries and institutions, including the Hudson Valley Museum of Contemporary Art, the Schweinfurth Art Center, the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, East End Arts, and the Atlantic Gallery in Chelsea. She recently received a New York State Council of the Arts grant for a major site specific artwork (and accompanying photography exhibit) that will debut in 2024.
